Koufu at Cineleisure Levels Up

Dining out and in town doesn’t necessarily have to break the bank. You can go easy on the wallet, yet score top notched meals at Koufu at Cathay Cineleisure Orchard, basement 1.

From Japanese to Western to local fare with a twist, there’re no lack of choices of food that’ll satisfy the most discerning foodie.

CURRY OMU RICE

Looking to tickle your taste buds with a huge plate of tonkatsu curry omu rice at just $8.90? Another budget-friendly dining spot to hit on days you’d prefer to go easy on the wallet is this Japanese curry stall located right in the middle of Koufu.

The curry is thick and flavoursome, with a tinge of spice. Our favourite is the Tonkatsu Curry Omu Rice, which is tender slabs of deep fried pork cutlet, served with rice that’s wrapped in fluffy egg omelette.

This one definitely offers a bang for the buck.

SALTED EGG YOLK FISH & CHIPS

The salted egg yolk wave has taken Singapore by storm and we certainly don’t mind it at all! Fish & Chicks shot to fame with its signature Salted Egg Yolk Fish & Chips, had food bloggers and critics raving and us drooling.

The salted egg yolk sauce is luscious, a glorious golden yellow, with a creamy and distinct salty taste and finished with fragrant curry leaves. The fish is perfectly moist on the inside, with a thin crispy batter.

When you’re there, be sure to also try the Chilli Crab Fish & Chips, another uniquely Singapore favourite.

These dangerously addictive sauces had us licking every drop left on our utensils.

TRUFFLE CHICKEN RICE

(Closed)

Creativity certainly isn’t dead. Eat Chicken Rice at Koufu serves creative rendition of a classic we’ve known and loved for generations.

For just $8.90, the dish features half a chicken, a gooey egg and rice that’s been mixed with truffle oil infused mushrooms. The fragrance of the rice and the tenderness of the chicken are beyond tantalising.

If truffle is not your thing, be sure to try the Szechuan style poached chicken set, also for just $8.90. You do not have to be a spice meister for this one as the level of spice is just enough to satisfy, but not one that burns.
